The Philosophy Behind Safety in Mind

Safety In Mind was developed out of a meeting of minds between Psychiatrist Anthony Feinstein and Psychologist David Burroughs. Both David and Anthony met through their personal and professional interests in the psychological risks associated with working in hostile and remote locations.

We at Safety In Mind recognize the need for a psychological assistance system that is practical, discreet and allows individuals to self-monitor their emotional health when they feel the need. This may be during periods of stress or after a traumatic event or simply as part of an occasional general health check. Furthermore, we believe it is important for immediate family members to have access to the service as well, as psychological issues can affect loved ones as well.

The Safety In Mind website provides a broad range of psychological self assessment tools. Our approach recognizes the complexity of stressors and pressure that can impact on all of us, regardless of where we live or what we do and the Safety In Mind approach is sophisticated enough to provide an effective assessment across a broad range of emotional issues.

Safety In Mind is not meant to replace the valuable services provided by Employee Assistance and support programs, nor is it meant to replace more formal assessment and treatment services. It will, however, give you the tools to take additional responsibility for managing your emotional wellbeing, enable you to seek assistance if required and it provides an additional safety net for those whose emotional wellbeing is compromised.

The principles behind Safety In Mind are based on years of research and testing. Safety In Mind utilises a proven system that has been widely used in specialized areas for a number of years.
